Tibet Visa Information
Traveling in Tibet is strictly monitored.
Make sure you have proper visas
and Travel Permits before you travel. There is nothing
you can leave to sort out after arrival; all
arrangements must be made beforehand.
You need;
1. Visa,
2. Tibet Travel Permit, and
3. Special permits, depending
on where you are going.
Tibet Visa
-
If
you are entering in Tibet from mainland China,
there is no need to obtain separate visa to Tibet
(as the same mainland China Visa will be valid).
-
If
you are entering Tibet from Nepal, a
Group-Visa must be obtained from the Chinese Embassy
in Kathmandu.
In this case, the mainland Chinese Visa obtained
anywhere else in the world is not valid to visit
Tibet. The embassy will cancel any existing Chinese
Visas before issuing Group-Visa. So, you DO NOT need
to get Chinese Visa from your place if you are
coming through Nepal.
If you fly from Nepal to Tibet
without Group-Visa, but only with mainland China
Visa, you're going to face the Chinese Immigration
Authority, strict grilling and hefty penalty (about
US$ 250) before you are considered to be allowed in.
We will arrange your Group-Visa to travel to Tibet
and other necessary permits.
-
The Chinese Embassy in
Kathmandu, NEPAL issues Tibet visas only on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays (except Chinese holidays).
-
Diplomatic passport holders
must get clearance from Beijing for travel into
Tibet which often takes a long time. It is advisable
to travel on non diplomatic passport, if you have
one.
-
In order to submit
application / obtain the Tibet Visa, the Visa
Approval document (issued by Tibet Travel Bureau) is
essential. One must go through registered Travel
Agency as the individuals cannot apply or obtain the
Group-Visa themselves.
Tibet Travel Permit
Like the Visa, Tibet Travel
Permit must be obtained before your arrival. It is
necessary to show the travel permit at the Immigration
where your Visa will be inspected.
Travel agency in Tibet will
obtain your Travel Permit (and you will get a copy).
We obtain Tibet Travel Permit,
Visa and all required permits for our clients.
Special Permits
