Island Peak Climbing

6189m/20305ft

Island peak stands at 6160m in Khumbu region. Known to local as Imja Tse, this magnificent peak provides some mountaineering experience to novice and experts both.

Just a couple of days add-on to the Everest Base Camp trek and you are on this superb climb. If you have technical mountaineering experience that will help otherwise just a high level of fitness and strong will power can still see you on the summit.

Itinerary, Island Peak Climb

Day 01 Arrive in Kathmandu, Transfer to Hotel

Day 02 Kathmandu sightseeing tour & preparation for Expedition
          Welcome dinner in the evening

Day 03 Fly to Lukla, Trek to Phakding (2,610m)

Day 04 Trek Phakding to Namche (3,440m) (5-6 hrs).

Day 05 Rest day at Namche for acclimatization.

Day 06 Trek Namche to Tengboche (3,860m) (5 hrs)

Day 07 Trek Tengboche to Pheriche (4,312m) (5 hrs)

Day 08 Trek Pheriche to Lobuche (4,920m) (4-5 hrs)

Day 09 Trek Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,140m) (4 hrs)

Day 10 Hike up to Kalapatthar / Visit Retrace your steps to Lobuche (4,920m) (8 hrs)

Day 11 Trek to Chhukung (4730m / 7 hrs)

Day 12 Island Peak Base Camp (4 hrs)

Day 13 Summit Island Peak (6160m), back to BC

Day 14 Extra Day / Summit / Return to Chhukung (4730m)

Day 15 Trek to Namche (3,440m) (4 hrs)

Day 16 Trek Namche to Phakding (2,610m). (3-4 hours)

Day 17 Phakding to Lukla (2,840m) (3 hrs)
          (B, L, D, Lo/C)

Day 18 Flight: Lukla (2,840m) - Kathmandu (1,310m). Hotel Overnight.

Day 19 Free day to explore, and enjoy Kathmandu. Hotel Overnight.

Day 20 Final Departure.

Excellent Support Team

The expedition will be led by very experienced leader from Makalu Adventure. Our climbing Sherpa guides have climbed Island peak so many times over the years. To their aid will be a team of cook and friendly helpers.

World Class Equipment

We import original products from Mountain Hardware & North Face. The tents and whole set of camping equipment are of world class.

Safety

We provide emergency oxygen, satellite phone*, portable altitude chamber and first-aid with medicines. There is always a backup plan should climbers require emergency support, descent or evacuation. The office in Kathmandu can manage to send a helicopter within hours on favourable weather conditions.
